Thinking Thursday: The Disciples’ Alphabet

Acquaint thyself with Jesus Christ and gain eternal peace,
Be wise in time give up your sins and find a sweet release.
Commit thy way unto the Lord, cast all your cares on Him,
Delight thyself in doing good and always work to win.
Endure hardness bravely and strive to right the wrong,
Fight with faith life’s battle though it be fierce and strong.
Go where Jesus bids you, read God’s Holy Word,
Hold high the gospel banner and imitate your Lord.
In all your ways acknowledge Him follow day by day,
Just place yourself into His hands and He will lead the way.
Keep watch against temptation when you are sorely tried,
Let Jesus hold the reins of life and rest quite satisfied.
Make sunshine for the sick and sad, tell of a better land,
Never be too busy to lend a helping hand.
Obedient be to God’s command to preach the truth to all,
Perhaps a fallen brother may be waiting for your call,
Quickly grasp the opportunity and speak a kindly word,
Remember work you do for God will surely bring reward.
Someday when the roll is called and faithful you are found,
The King will bid you WELCOME and by Him you’ll be crowned.
Until that day of gladness press on with might and main,
Victory through His grace is sure and heaven at last you’ll gain.
When here with all its struggles is finished life’s stiff race,
Xceeding great will be your joy to see the Saviour’s face.
Yield your all to Jesus now, and others strive to win,
Zealous be in all good work and give your best to HIM.

About Ann Marie Thomas

Married since 1974, Christian since 1986, 4 children, 4 grand children, disabled with fibromyalgia but was working almost full time until a stroke in May 2010 changed my life completely. Writing poetry and making up stories since I was a child, I only started to write seriously when my children were grown. My main ambition is to write science fiction, but along the way I got distracted by local history and poetry about my stroke. Taking early retirement gave me the chance to concentrate on my writing. My book, Alina, The White Lady of Oystermouth, was published in print and ebook at Easter 2012. The success of Alina led to the publication of Broken Reed: The Lords of Gower and King John in September 2013, and The Magna Carta Story at Easter 2015. I am still writing science fiction - a series of novels called Flight of the Kestrel. For all my author news, see me author blog at
